From March 1st to 14th, visitors are invited to explore and appreciate a photography exhibition dedicated to women, femininity, and the art of portraiture.
The exhibition is organized in partnership with the students of UNArte – the National University of Arts in Bucharest, under the guidance of Sergiu Chihaia and Alexandru Mărginean. Each student will exhibit three photographs on the themes of womanhood, femininity, and portraiture.
Sergiu Chihaia (b. 1982), a graduate of the National University of Arts Bucharest, is currently a full-time lecturer in the Fashion Department at the same institution. He lives and works in Bucharest, exhibiting his works in national and international exhibitions (Bucharest, Constanța, London, and Venice). His artworks are part of private collections in England, Italy, and Romania. In 2014, he won the UAP Award for Decorative Arts – Textiles at the Art in Bucharest project, 5th edition. As a sculptor, textile artist, and designer, he blends all these disciplines in his creative process, becoming a scenographer. Through his art, he recreates the history of the world as a stage, a space where human dramas, joys, and triumphs unfold.
Alexandru Mărginean is a lecturer at the National University of Arts, Fashion Design Department. His artistic work includes mural art, easel painting, solo and group exhibitions, photography, and graphic design. His exhibitions have been showcased in Galeria Galla, Galleria D’Arte Moderna – Rome, Accademia di Romania, ICR Venice, Fondazione Palazzo Bricherasio – Torino, Senigallia Arte Fiera, World Trade Center Bucharest, Sala “Th. Pallady” – Romanian Academy, Galeria Contemp, Galeria CAV – Căminul Artei, and Sala “Constantin Brâncuși” – Palace of Parliament.
Since 2012, he has been a lecturer in the Fashion Design Department, where he teaches Visual Communication. He also teaches an optional course, Photography Techniques, open to all faculties at the National University of Arts. In 2021, he oversaw the publication of the album Triumph of the Image, dedicated to painter Viorel Mărginean, for which he also did the photography (a total of 504 pages, with critical text by Mihai Plămădeală).
